Is this Cash App pending payment text a scam?

Scam, and note which lever it pulls. The suspended-account version of this text works on fear; this one works on the opposite, money supposedly waiting for you. Both end at the same fake login page. The tell is simple: money arriving in Cash App requires nothing from you. It lands. There is no step where you verify yourself to release funds someone else has already sent.
How to spot the Cash App scam
- You are asked to act in order to receive money. Incoming payments are not conditional on the recipient proving anything, so the premise of the message is the giveaway.
- The link is a lookalike: cashapp-verify.com, cashappsupport.info, cash-app-pending.net. The real service is cash.app, so read the root domain, not the words before it.
- There is a countdown, usually 24 hours, after which the money is "returned". Deadlines exist to stop you opening the app and finding nothing pending.
- It asks for your sign-in code, PIN or full card number. Cash App states its representatives never ask for any of those.
- The amount is oddly specific and just large enough to be worth chasing. $750 is chosen to be plausible and hard to ignore.
- You were not expecting a payment, or you cannot name who would be sending it.
- It came by SMS at all. Support runs through the app or cash.app/help, and it starts with you.
- If you call a number in the message, whoever answers asks for a "test" transaction to confirm the account. Cash App says it never asks that, by phone, social media or any other means.
What to do now
- Open Cash App and look at Activity. A genuine incoming payment is visible there and needs nothing from you. An empty Activity tab settles it.
- Do not tap the link, and do not call any number in the text. Cash App has one support line, 1 (800) 969-1940, open 8 AM to 9:30 PM ET, and it is the only number customers can call.
- Turn on Security Lock so a payment cannot leave without your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID.
- If you entered your PIN or a sign-in code, change your Cash App PIN, change your linked bank password from a different device, and check the bank account for transfers you did not make.
- Report it in the app or at cash.app/help, and forward the text to 7726 (SPAM) so your carrier can act on the sender. Contact support only through those routes, never a number or address supplied by the message itself.
- If money left the account, report the unauthorized transfer in-app and keep the reference. The CFPB's January 2025 order requires Block to investigate unauthorized transfers and pay redress where owed.
